This little fellow was negotiating for part of my lunch at the peak of Twin Sisters in Colorado when I took his picture. I really wanted to give him food; but I once heard that they may become dependent on man and won't survive the winter. Sorry. :-(

BWCA Mushrooms

Bugle boy here is a polyporus elegans.
If you can identify any of these mushrooms, please let me know. RamariaThe next two photos are pretty little red buttons on a portage heading into Ge-be-on-e-quet Lake. I could not locate them for myself even after Dan told me exactly where to look. Maybe because I'm color blind and old. (My family also says that I'm losing my hearing. But I don't think that has anything to do with it.) Dan saw them because he was carrying the canoe and had no where to look but down... That last statement is not really true. Dan always looks out for mushrooms for me.
I just found out that these red mushrooms are hygrocybes.

Moonlight Mushrooms

We are fun guys. Oh, yes we are! We are slime mold. Yuk.

Finally, this is Dan. He carries the canoe across portages and has a great eye for mushrooms. Thanks, Dan.

Twin Cities Marathon 2009

Supposed to be the most beautiful urban marathon in the country (world) according to R.T. Rybak. But I heard that Grandma's is pretty, too. Maybe so.. But I guess Grandma's is not urban, it's Duluth.

The Elite started first.
Throngs of runners viewed at the starting line as seen from the Metrodome walkway.
