Grand Canyon

Monument Valley

Prelude to Monument Valley

We saw a few smallish monuments on the highway before heading out to the Four Corners.
This is a continuation of my posts of our northern Arizona trip in April. As I may have said earlier, Jimmy and I flew into Flagstaff where we met my father, Morris, and stayed the night at the Motel 6. After that we headed to Canyon de Chelly for a couple of days, then to Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon. Our directions to Monument Valley were interesting... We thought that Monument Valley and the Four Corners were right next to each other; so we headed straight for the Four Corners. In fact, Monument Valley is 80 miles east of the Four Corners. O well! Anyway, here are some pictures of that area.

Canyon de Chelley in Northeast Arizona

My son James (Jimmy), my father (Grandpa Morris), and I took a road trip in northern Arizona during the first ten days of April. In the next few posts, I will be posting photos that I took along the way. I don't have all of the photos ready yet; so I will go back in expand the postings over time.

These are photos of the canyon walls that I shot while we were on a Ranger Guided hike to the bottom of the canyon.
This is the summer home of a Native American family at the bottom of the Canyon de Chelley. Our guide, William, who was himself a local, explained that residents had another home at the rim where they spent the winter.
