Prelude to Monument Valley

We saw a few smallish monuments on the highway before heading out to the Four Corners.
This is a continuation of my posts of our northern Arizona trip in April. As I may have said earlier, Jimmy and I flew into Flagstaff where we met my father, Morris, and stayed the night at the Motel 6. After that we headed to Canyon de Chelly for a couple of days, then to Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon. Our directions to Monument Valley were interesting... We thought that Monument Valley and the Four Corners were right next to each other; so we headed straight for the Four Corners. In fact, Monument Valley is 80 miles east of the Four Corners. O well! Anyway, here are some pictures of that area.

This is the god-forsaken town of Aneth Utah where we bought gas after overshooting Monument Valley.
